A photographer raising a camera to the eye, in monochrome

Portrait & campaign photography · Prague

Shot after dark.

Studio Noir makes portraits and campaign work lit like cinema — one subject, one hour of carefully built light, and nothing fixed in post that should have been fixed in the room.

Selected work

The proof, printed.

Three frames from the last year. The rest we show in the studio, on paper, the way they end up.

The light

We sell an hour of light.

Anyone can own this camera. What you book here is the hour before you arrive — the flags, the one soft source, the black walls doing their quiet work — so that by the time you sit down, the picture already exists and you just have to be in it.

We shoot fewer frames than you expect and deliver fewer still. The contact sheet is edited like a sentence: everything that isn't the point comes out.

The discipline

How the hour is spent.

1 Light source, built properly
60' In the chair. It's enough
12 Frames delivered, edited hard
0 Fixed in post that the room could fix
Studio position
A portrait is a small argument about who you are. We take your side.

Sessions

Three ways into the studio.

Every session includes the pre-built light, the edit and prints. Digital files come with the prints, not instead of them.

Sitters, quoted

From the chair

I hate having my picture taken. The hour felt like a conversation and the prints feel like someone finally looked properly.
Tereza NovakThe Portrait
Twelve frames sounded like too few until we saw them. We used eleven. Try that with a four-hundred-shot gallery.
Karel SvobodaCampaign day, autumn
He photographed my mother's hands for an hour and my family cried at a JPEG. Then the prints arrived.
