Orbit is a 1961 diner brought back with its original counter, its original neon and its original conviction: pancakes at 4pm are a civil right. Bottomless filter coffee, booths worth fighting for, and a milkshake machine older than most of our customers.

The position
The grill does eggs from open to close, no cutoff, no 'breakfast ends at eleven' — a policy that has ended arguments, saved night shifts and once reportedly rescued a marriage. Eggs any style, hash browns crisp enough to hear across the room.
The coffee is bottomless filter, poured before you ask, in cups thick enough to survive the decade they'll serve.

The booths
The eight booths were reupholstered in the correct teal after a two-year hunt for the correct teal. The jukebox wall units work — twenty cents, three songs, all of them recorded before 1975 and none of them skippable.
The corner booth doesn't take reservations; it takes patience. Locals time their week around its turnover.
The regulars
Night shift ends at six, Orbit's eggs start whenever. This place understands shift workers better than any HR department ever has.
My grandfather proposed in the corner booth in 1963. We got engaged there last spring. The teal is the same. Everything important is the same.
The shake machine is louder than my motorcycle and the result justifies everything. Seven-stack review: I regret nothing and also everything.
